Kiel Preschool celebrates 40th

Kiel Cooperative Preschool is a parent-owned, non-profit early education program offering hands-on learning experiences for children 29 months through 5 years of age.

The preschool is located in the upper level of Kiel City Hall and features a spacious classroom with an attached bathroom. A large gym is available for active play. KCP offers parents a choice of two, three, four or five half-day sessions per week. Planned activities offer children play-based experiences in all developmental areas, including math, literacy, fine motor development, large motor development, science and social studies.

Kiel Cooperative Preschool opened in 1972 through the efforts of area parents who saw the need for an early education program in the Kiel area. The program is celebrating its 40th anniversary with special events throughout the school year.

The preschool is currently accepting registrations for the 2013-’14 school year. Interested parents should contact the preschool at 894-7451 to request information or enroll their child.

KCP recently expanded its early science program. All enrolled children participate in hands-on activities that encourage exploration and problem solving as they learn about their environment. Barb Forstner serves as the director/

teacher at the preschool. She is assisted by Amy Meyer. The parent board consists of President Michelle Vogel, Vice President Bridget Bartel, Secretary Mariah Murphy and Treasurer Lisa Erickson.
