Military Day at fair Sept. 3

Monday, Sept. 3 is the annual Military Appreciation Day and Program at the Calumet County Fair.

All current military, retired veterans and families are invited to attend the fair that day. Free gate admission will be provided to those people with proof of military service.

Veterans are invited to bring along the colors from their unit or post (with a stand) to be displayed at the 10 a. m. Military Salute service.

Also taking place will be a Glory Flight Honor Roll. People donating $20 to the Old Glory Honor Flight at the fair will get their name posted on the fair Web site as a Honor Flight Sponsor. Envelopes will be available at the fair.

Veterans and their families can enjoy the day with the Wild World of Animals show, The Blend (Acapella Group), Car Show, Horse Promoters Speed Show, County B Basement Boys, Madcats and much more.

People are also asked to pass this information along to as many military families as possible. The only way to keep offering this very special discount is by getting participation from veterans, according to Judy McGlin, Military Day chairperson. She can be contacted at
