Schumacher’s Shanty opened April 2 of this year at 101 S. Military Rd. in Stockbridge.
The building had been closed for about a year and a half and the new owners made many renovations between purchasing it in February and reopening in April.
Schumacher’s Shanty is a sports bar offering refreshments, entertainment and homemade pizza. Jodi Schumacher said in the future they plan to offer live bait and tackle for local fishermen, eventually expanding into the back room to offer full service bait and tackle with other sporting goods. Plans are also in the works to build a tiki bar off the south side of the building.
“After renovations and opening, many people stop in out of curiosity as it had been a grocery store for many years and they offer many stories and memories,” Jodi said.
She added that the key personnel in the business are “my husband and I and our three children. We also have three hired bartenders at this time.”
