Chilton Progress briefs 2012
Safe housing at Chilton facility

The Chilton Housing Authority at 312 Bonk St. welcomes the opportunity to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing to low-income residents of Chilton and greater Calumet County.

By providing this type of housing for our senior citizens, they are ensured independent, dignified living in their retirement years. The low-income families served by the Housing Authority have an opportunity to receive affordable housing which, in turn, enables them to move on to the private sector. Since being founded in 1981, 24 former family residents have become homeowners in Calumet County.

2011 saw the completion of a patio just outside the north door of the Community Room, which includes a sidewalk which leads from the patio around the east side of the building to Bonk Street. This year the patio and areas around the walk will be landscaped. The newly expanded areas enable residents to enjoy healthy exercise outside the building.

The Chilton Housing Authority has been recognized for its excellent performance in administration of public housing for the 19th year by being awarded the designation of “High Performer” by the Department of Housing & Urban Development. This designation is based on the Housing Authority’s score of 95 percent (out of a possible 100) in HUD’s Public Housing Management Assessment Program.

Ann T. Gasch is the executive director of the Chilton Housing Authority. MaryLee Flemming is the coordinator of tenant services, and Lloyd Buechel handles maintenance for the facility.
