Like Todd, Doug Olig is a graduate of New Holstein High School.

After college, he served for 11 years at St. Lawrency Seminary as a teacher and athletic director.

He returned to his alma mater for five years to serve as the associate principal, having the experience of serving as a direct supervisor for several of his former teachers.

Olig then moved on to serve in administration at St. Mary’s Springs Academy.

A resident of Peebles, with his wife, Lisa and daughter, Madeline, Olig saw this career change as an opportunity to be more flexible in watching his daughter grow up.

“I didn’t have that in my previous line of work,” he said.

He chose New York Life as a career opportunity partly because of his brother Todd’s connections and success. But, the strength of the company lured him to the opportunity as well.

“I am impressed with the resources they have available and the training and professional development offered by New York Life. Whether its resources of time, talent or treasure, if you need it, it’s there for you,” he said.

Local base of operations

The two agents see the addition of Doug to the New York Life team as an opportunity to serve more clients in the Holy Land and Fond du Lac, where Doug has a great deal of familiarity.

Their immediate “home base” will be Todd’s New York Life office in Kiel, which is supported by office manager Katie Scheidt.

Operating from that location for the past seven years, the team has been endeared to its clients by Scheidt’s strong organization role. “Our people love her and she does such an amazing job with all the clients,” Todd said.

Olig knows that his success is measured in those strong relationships enhanced beyond his own hand. The meaningful support of his office leader and the strength and reputation of New York Life as a mutual insurance company have been the main building blocks to his national rankings.

Earning a spot in the top 2 percent is not an accident. “It didn’t happen overnight and it didn’t happen just because of me,” Todd said. “We have grown this business because we have done something right for our clients.”

In addition to becoming a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table, Todd Olig has also earned Premier Status on New York Life’s President’s Council, recognizing the top agents nationwide. He actually ranked third on that list.

The brother duo will continue to hang their official shingle in the 300 block of Fremont Street, but it is likely that Doug will do much of his customer contact work in the field, and from his home location nearer to Fond du Lac.

“These days, we take most of our office with us wherever we go,” Todd Olig said.
