It’s been a great three years at Braun’s Ranch. We still have 90 percent of employees from the start back in April of 2011.
We created a family bond between the employees and our loyal daily customers along with all the tourist and surrounding community customers.
We lost one of our owners, Glen M. Braun Jr., but to a happy adventure. He reopened the Braun’s Deer Run golf Course in Brillion in April 2013 and is very successful with a super menu. Deer Run is open seven days a week and averaging about 300 customers on Friday nights.
Our other son, David, along with his business partner, Jason Hunsader, runs the Altona Supper Club—one of the premier restaurants in Calumet County.
It is very rewarding as a dad to see the outstanding work ethics of my boys in the restaurant business as they started out standing on milk crates doing dishes at Cedar Lake Resort back in the ‘80s.
Wife, daughters key players
At Braun’s Ranch we have our other part of our family holding down our family business at Braun’s Ranch Supper Club with my wife, Bridget, overseeing the management of the bar. Our daughter Chelsea hostesses and oversees the restaurant division and our youngest daughter Montana does busing, dish-washing and overall managing the salad bar and buffet.
On holidays, Mother’s Day, Easter we average about 800 to 900 people per holiday and we turned away about 300 people this year. People call in over a month ahead of time to get good dinnertime schedule to get seated.
