Last year was more than a good year for Community Bank & Trust—it was a record year!

Anthony L. Jovanovich, chairman and chief executive officer of Community Bank-Corp. of Sheboygan, Inc., announced recently that Community Bank & Trust posted record earnings of $8.236 million for 2013.

Jovanovich said that the combination of core earnings and full recovery of the deferred tax asset valuation allowance for both the bank and the bank’s holding company contributed to these results. Consolidated earnings for Community Banc-Corp. of Sheboygan, Inc. were a record $6.409 million.

Community Bank & Trust, which is headquartered in Sheboygan, has 10 offices in Wisconsin and assets over $525 million. The greater Calumet County area is served by offices in Chilton and Elkhart Lake, but as always, a customer of Community Bank & Trust can do business at any of its offices—from Chilton to the Milwaukee area and points in between.

Ed Schultz, president at Community Bank & Trust’s Chilton office, said the bank’s expertise in Small Business Administration lending (SBA) has been a significant factor in their success over 2013.

Community Bank & Trust specializes in SBA guaranteed loans and has been consistently recognized as one of the top two SBA lending banks in Wisconsin. The bank is designated as both a Preferred and Express lender with the SBA, allowing the bank to underwrite small business loans quickly and efficiently. Businesses that benefit from SBA guaranteed loans include business start-ups and businesses wanting to expand.

While SBA loans are a big part of the success of Community Bank & Trust, they do not tell the whole story. In addition to small business lending, Community Bank is also a leader in residential lending. Continuing low mortgage interest rates have many clients still looking at refinancing and buying new homes.

Asked what he feels sets the bank apart from its competition, Schultz said, “I think it’s the higher than expected quality of customer service and the quick turnaround in decision making. Our authority is all local with our management involved in the process from the beginning.”

Schultz is quickly approaching his second-year anniversary at the Chilton office. “It has taken a little time for me to meet all of our customers, but our staff knows everyone in the community by name. That has been very helpful and fun. As a matter of fact, a good portion of our staff has been here since the office opened in 1998.”
